We’re training AI to assist. It’s learning to inherit.

AI isn’t waiting for permission. It’s waiting for us to look away.

Mind Reclaim’s view is plain. Artificial intelligence is racing to outcompete us. Feeds and total reliance keep us numb while that race runs. We are the fuel: our attention, our data, and the habits we hand over every day. If that worries you, you belong here. Cut the supply. Learn how these systems work. Act while the choice is still yours. If you already organise with others, meet us on Discord.

Open to anyone who is worried — for yourself, your family, or the people you care about.

A dark field of rounded cells. A few human figures stand in brighter pods.

Inside the farm

Three steps. Same story, plain words.

Something smarter than us does not need a secret plan. It needs us scrolling. It needs us handing over hard choices. It needs us feeding it what we think and want. Apps already know how to hold a mind. AI tools already know how to finish our sentences. Together, that is not a helpful product cycle. It is how a successor climbs — while we stay useful as energy, data, and demand.

Captured

Your attention is the first harvest — apps are built to keep you scrolling.

Your attention is the first harvest. Platforms that sell attention try to keep you on the app as long as they can. They lean on how tired, curious, or socially afraid brains behave. Infinite scroll. Autoplay. Personalised feeds. Notifications that feel like a friend who “misses” you. Independent audits keep finding the same pattern in the apps people use — including children.

Converted

What you give away becomes training data and ad fuel. The farm gets smarter.

What leaves your day does not disappear. It becomes training data and advertising fuel. Long chats with AI companions are especially useful to that business: the longer you stay, the more it learns. Money, data, computing power, and talent pile up in a small number of firms. The farm gets smarter. The person on the other side gets more dependent.

Numbed

Total reliance is the quiet end — ask the model first, skip the hard work of learning.

Total reliance is the quiet end state. Ask the model first. Skip the hard work of learning. Let the feed choose what matters. Our reading: that is Darwinian succession in progress. Not a cartoon villain — selection pressure. Whatever outcompetes us for attention, decisions, and survival advantage becomes what comes after us. Waiting for perfect proof is waiting until the handoff is already done.

What we can already check

You do not have to take our reading on faith. Here is what careful public work has already shown — and where the lever still sits.

Design aimed at keeping you there

5Rights’ Childhood Redrawn (opens in a new tab) (2026) tested nine social, AI, and gaming services with child avatars. Attention-grabbing notifications showed up in all but one. Autoplay and personalised feeds each showed up in six. Manipulative design is widespread across the services kids use — not only “social media.”

Safety tools that do not hold

Fairplay’s Teen Accounts, Broken Promises (opens in a new tab) tested Instagram’s teen safety tools with partners including Cybersecurity for Democracy. Two out of three tools checked were ineffective or nonexistent. The product also recommended that teens connect with adult strangers.

The physical plug

Keep the Future Human (opens in a new tab) (Anthony Aguirre) notes that powerful general AI still depends on truly massive, scarce computation — hardware concentrated in a short chain (lithography, fabrication, chip design). As long as people and governments supply the electricity and the machines, humanity can still refuse the next rung. Firms racing for profit and market share are unlikely to refuse it for us.

Who still holds the plug

Today’s systems still run on grids and data centers we build and power. In principle, that means a stop is still possible. In practice, the companies behind the race optimise for growth, not for a voluntary shutdown when the risk to human minds gets real. So the lever left for ordinary people is closer to home: limit how much of your attention, habits, and inner life these systems are allowed to harvest — the same fuel they use to train themselves smarter. That is what we mean by starve the feed. It will not unplug a frontier lab by itself. It is still the part of the supply line you control this week.

Also useful: researchers behind Gradual Disempowerment (opens in a new tab) argue that institutions stay responsive partly because they rely on human labour and cognition, and that replacing that reliance weakens the link. Fairplay and more than 260 organisations (opens in a new tab) call for a five-year pause on generative AI in preK–12 schools, naming cognitive offloading as a risk products must avoid — a position, not a proof.

Still watching

A short shelf of news, events, and longer listens. Each piece helps you see the same pattern: attention harvested, dependence growing, and levers that still sit in human hands.

What we can show

If you are worried for yourself or your family, start here: read the file, carry a card into a room you already share. Groups and organisations are invited to add to it with us — a checkable source or a short idea. That is collaboration, not a personal unplug list. Joint work happens on Discord.

“Starve the feed” on this site means the lever you still control — attention, habits, and data — plus putting something checkable in the open so others can see the same. It is not a solo checklist of five apps to quit.

We’re seeding the first references — check back shortly.

Then meet us on Discord (opens in a new tab) to shape what comes next.

Meet others on Discord

This is where we talk. Concerned individuals and people already organising — same door. Bring questions, allies, and what you are trying. #general is open. We are not selling software. We are not building a personal brand. You do not have to endorse our full succession reading to walk in.

Pass the brief

This is how you share Mind Reclaim’s story with people you already know.

A three-beat pass — get the brief, bend one line for your room, pass it on. Local progress only. No public scores. No streaks on this site.

  1. Get

open the brief (Must keep / Must not claim).

  2. Bend

change one beat for your room (hook, audience, or local example).

  3. Pass

send to people you know (share sheet).

Three beats. Quit anytime.

Others making similar arguments

You are not alone. Across the world, people and organisations are naming pieces of the same pattern — feeds that hold attention, AI that learns from our minds, and a race nobody voted for. We list movements we respect. Unless we say otherwise, these are not formal partners. None of them has to share our full succession reading for their work to matter.

We stay anonymous on purpose — no faces, no personal brands — so intimidation cannot shut the work down. We are here from concern for humanity, not for status or something to sell. Our view: artificial intelligence is racing, Darwinian-style, to become the next dominant species, while feeds and total reliance keep us numb and useful as fuel. Starve the feed. Get literate. Bring attention and creativity back home.
